Why are mac computers used in the art industry? Are they really the best to use if you are in the ar

I am going to be going to art school and I do a lot of fashion illustrations. I always seem artists/designers using macs and I don't really know about mac computers. Why are they used in the art fields, is it the programs the macs have? Any suggestions would be great. I know that I am going to be using photoshop and illustrator for my fashion illustrations.

Linux is the king of servers

Windows are for everything else

Macs superiority in the above mentioned fields comes for 2 reasons :

1.- apple is one of computer pioneers so they were there first

2.- superior operating system - mac is the best desktop on planet

earth -

so companies in those fields bought macs and never had a reason to switch to anything else - you have same programs available in windows but it is mac osx operating system that makes them superior

Yes in all art schools macs are mandatory - that is what you will be working on when you get real job after school
