Do computers and Internet work in Antarctica?

Friends, considering the low temperature climate found in Antarctica,I'm doubtful of computers working there properly. Also, plz answer me if Internet connectivity is available there.

If yes, how's the internet connected there?

incidentally,I've got an online friend from Antarctica[claiming to be].

yes....and yes......there is such things as heat, hydro, cable, phone out there....they don't live in igloos but homes just like you do...drive cars just like you.....seriously.....they may get colder temperatures and more snow than we will see in our lifetime but come on.....ignorance about the north is starting to get really irritating

Ignorance about the North? How about ignorance about geography....Antarctica is in the South Report It

Yes, they work in Antarctica. Despite the low temperatures, scientists work there all the time. Computers are necessary for them. They have generators. They keep their labs warm. They have electricity. They have satellite access and communications. It all works fine.

I'm skeptical, though, of you having a friend in Antarctica, considering people don't generally live there, except for scientists... There aren't /cities/ there, or communities - just base labs where scientists and government people work and use the region to study. Could happen, if someone has a family there, I suppose...?
Computers would work in Antartica - but they would have to be indoors, of course. It is also possible to have Internet connection using a satellite transmission.

I remember recently following the story of a woman doctor stationed in Antartica who developed breast cancer. She had to use the Internet to get medical advise for treating herself for several weeks until the weather cleared enough that she could be airlifted from there.
Yes they do work there.....via satellite. There are no indigenous people there, but scientists have heated underground communities where they study climate and other topics.
erm? why cant it?

scientists are studying bears there, they need the electronics. :)
