Can computers play DVDs of any region?

Can computers play any region DVDs? If not, how can you get them to play a Region 2 DVD? Also, can a portable DVD player play different regions if it has different languages on it?

The older computer used to be able to, but not anymore. You can change the region of the DVD drive in your computer but only a very limited number of times. Then it's stuck on the last one you selected. If you want to play a region 2 discs regularly, get a second DVD drive for your computer. They're cheap enough so this is an affordable option. Another answer is to get a multi-region DVD player for your TV.

I know england uses PAL format and when I made a DVD for my friend down there i forgot and used the standard USA format (NTSC) ...

the said they put the DVD in their PC and it played without a problem so I'm guessing the answer to your question is going to be yes but I'm not 100% sure on that...
yes computers can play any type of DVD from any region but portable DVD player can't play everything. they can only play their own region DVDs
