Here is the catch... my desktop is equipt w/Windows XP, my laptop is equipt w/ Windows 98. I'm trying to play an old version to Age of Empires, and just set up a simple game between the two computers only (no internet). I've tried using a Cat.5 crossover cable, but the computers don't want to read each other. I'm not familiar enough with win98 to change the IP address on the laptop, but this is turning into a bigger headache than it needs to be. Is there a simple solution ???
Need help connecting two computers !!?ktm
make sure that you have ''IPX/SPX'' protocol installed on both computers then.
Try selecting 鈥淚PX Connection for Direct Play'' when you are creating the multiplayer game.
There is a known issue with AOE and AOE II running through TCP/IP
Hope this Helps
Good Luck
