How to connect two computers and share Internet connection using IEEE 1394?

I have a compaq presario PC with windows XP professional installed.I also have a laptop and I am trying to connect these two computers using IEEE 1394 port available on both the PC's.I want to share my broadband connection.Please help me out.

You would not need a crossover cable. Connect the two machines using your firewire cable.



Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer connected to your modem. That machine should act as a dhcp server and give the other machine an IP address although I've never done it with firewire.

best thing would be connect both PCs to a router and the router to the broadband modem. to do it your way, you need a crossover cable to connect both PCs then on the PC with the connection, enable internet connection sharing under the connection settings
This is what is commonly referred to as firewire, not good for network use. You are better using proper network cards, most machines have them built in, and using a router.
