Here's my problem. I have two computers, one upstairs and one downstairs...the one that is upstairs is already hooked up to a modem and internet capable, but the other one doesnt want to work for some reason. The modem came from another service provider which I dont think should be a problem because it still detects a connection, but for some reason I cant get it to work...anyone got any suggestions to help me out with my problem? Thanks a lot....

Your problem is the fact that your service is logged in and connected on the upstairs modem, which doesnt allow your service to be logged in downstairs because its already being used. What you might want to try is going out and just buying a wireless router and connecting your modem to the router, then just going out and getting a wireless g USB connector for the downstairs and upstairs computer (or hook the upstairs computer up by an ethernet cable, like you have it now.) With the prices on wireless routers and USB connectors, you could probably get a simple setup like this for about 30-40 bucks. I would suggest looking at www.outpost.com for some good prices, or even www.ecost.com .
