Any body good with computers?

Im entering college soon and im looking for a good laptop. Problem is, I have no idea what the hell any of that stuff under product specs means, despite what my friends and dad tell me.

Somebody out there has to know what computers are good for students and are worth the price and vice versa. Any Help is appreciated.

Sorry for being so hopeless...=[

Hello!

Since your going to college, you need a laptop with basic needs, nothing fancy. Any laptop from Dell or HP between $700-$1000 (before taxes) should be fine for you, assuming you do the basic stuff like word processing, internet, and watching movies etc.

An example of what specifications your looking at: (basics)

- An Intel/AMD processor ~ 1.60 ghz atleast (the more the faster you will get things done)

- 1GB of RAM (the more the better - improves system responsiveness)

- 80GB ~ 250GB for your HardDrive (depends on how much you need)

- A DVD-ROM or A DVD-RW (if you want to burn movies, music)

- Any integrated (built-in) graphics chipset for you should be fine, since your not gaming.

- 14.1" monitor if you will carry your laptop with you a lot.

OR 15.4" monitor if you want a balance between portability and screen size.
